Besides lots of reference information it contains many curious and interesting stories of the people who worked with Michael and who shared their memories about working with him.
For example, that’s how P. Diddy remembers his experience of working with Michael:
‘He (Michael) takes an insane amount of time to record a track, but that’s just him, it’s the way he works. I am, like, the norm and prefer to get the vocal arrangement, then work later on the production side. I got some harsh looks from Michael when I was in the studio, you can tell when he’s not happy because he pulls these funny faces.’
Bill Bottrell remembers about cooperation with the famous guitarist Slash from Guns N’ Roses who participated in recording of several songs, including Black Or White and Give In To Me.
‘Slash come over for a couple of tracks,’ said Bottrell. ‘Interestingly, there was no alcohol, drugs or cigarettes on the session at all. Only one crew member smoked and he had to go outside to do it. But when Slash cam, MJ knew it was part of his thing. He said, “let him have his alcohol, cigarettes, whatever it takes”, so we set up another room at the Hit Factory, and Slash had his people send over the list… the drink of the day was Jack (Daniels) and coffee, if I recall correctly.’ |
